Burke

WELCOME TO BURKE

Burke was named in honor of a local politician, farmer, and merchant Silas Burke. Until the mid-20th century, Burke was mainly rural and predominantly a farming area until the growth of the federal government brought changes to the town. The need for more housing and government-related businesses was experienced during this time. But despite its conversion, history, and culture are well preserved. The old-world feel was retained in the town’s many beautiful churches and cemeteries. What’s more remarkable about Burke is the landscape of beautiful bodies of water like Hatch Lake, Huntsman Lake, Lake Braddock, and Lake Barton.
